The recipe for every product, version by version.
Build multi-level bills of materials with sub-assemblies, alternates and scrap allowances. Every change is a new revision, so production always builds from the released one.
- 1
Unlimited levels
Finished goods, sub-assemblies, bought-out parts and raw material in one tree. Expand any level to see what goes into it.
- 2
Revisions and release
Draft, review and release a new revision with an effective date. Older revisions stay on record for traceability.
- 3
Alternate parts
Define approved alternates with priority, so planning can switch to PT-044B when PT-044 is short, without editing the BOM.

- 4
Scrap and yield
Scrap percentage per component and yield per operation, so material requirements include real-world loss.
- 5
Routings and operations
Attach operations, machines, setup time and cycle time to each assembly. Production schedules read directly from here.
- 6
Rolled-up costing
Standard and actual cost roll up from the last purchase rate, moving average or a fixed rate, level by level.
Section A-A
How a BOM change reaches the shop floor
- 01
Draft
Engineering edits a copy of the current revision.
- 02
Where-used check
See every product and open order affected.
- 03
Review
Cost difference and stock impact shown side by side.
- 04
Release
New revision effective from a date or a serial.
- 05
Work orders
New work orders pick the released revision.

Notes
Common questions
- 01
We keep BOMs in Excel today. Can we import them?
Yes. Use the Orrsap import template. Item codes are matched with your item master and mismatches are listed before anything is saved.
- 02
Can one part have two suppliers with different codes?
Yes. The item stays the same in the BOM. Supplier part numbers are kept on the supplier link in Purchase Desk.
- 03
How is cost rolled up?
Choose standard, last purchase or moving average rate per item. Labour and machine cost come from the routing.
Engineering change note - ECN-2026 - Your plant
Approved for production.
Change requested: move the plant from spreadsheets and separate books to one connected ERP. Here is the revision plan a single-plant rollout usually follows.
| Rev | Description | When |
|---|---|---|
| A | Masters, opening stock and ledgers imported from Tally and Excel | Week 1-2 |
| B | Sales orders, GST invoices and purchase running live | Week 2-4 |
